It has been noted that every three or four generations we have a political blowing of the mind that has some interesting turns. The first brought us the civil war. The second the progressive political exercise of Wilson and FDR. WWII and the rise of Soviet Russia enhanced the deep state and made us to feel we needed it.
We are now arguing about how much of that apparatus should remain. And those who got their power don’t want to lose it.
